Knoxville Winery Brings Home Best of Show in Wines of the South Competition

Wines of the South is an annual regional wine competition designed to promote and celebrate the great tastes of Southern vintages. Wineries in fourteen southern states are invited to submit wines for the competition. 2019 marked the 18th annual year for the Wines of the South competition. Wines of the South medals and awards are recognized by consumers and distributors throughout the United States. The wine industry is rapidly growing throughout the South, especially in Tennessee. We grew from 24 wineries in 2001 to over 70 licensed wineries today!

Tennessee Wine Company began wine production in 2018 at the International Building in Downtown Knoxville. The winery produces a variety of unique wines ranging from sweet, fruity wines to dry, elegant options. This year was the first time entering the Wines of the South Competition and we were able to bring home the “Best of Show”, “Best of White”, and “Governor’s Cup Award East” using a variety of Tennessee grown fruit. This is the first time in years that anyone in Tennessee has won the “Best of Show” award, and the first time ever for Knoxville to bring home the award. Tennessee Wine Company is now open for wine tastings by appointment only. During the tasting, customers will get to tour the facility and learn about the various stages of the winemaking process.
